The Richy Bryan Memorial Walk was Sunday, July 12th. It had been in the making for awhile. I went to the website and found out that it was being created and brought about by a person named Denise Huffman. As the weeks went by I would check the website and I could see her progress and efforts coming to fruition.
She had put this together out of her love for Richy Bryan, nothing else. The deepest part of her heart and soul was put into it. Critics would not stop her.
I was reminded that day that one person, one act can make a difference. The money she raised is going to Project SUCCESS in their local community. And along with that she inspired each of us to go and make a difference somewhere, somehow. And to rise up against the naysayers. It reminded me of one of my most favorite quotes:
“To go against the dominant thinking of your friends, of most of the people you see every day, is perhaps the most difficult act of heroism you can perform.”
Theodore H. White
She was right to do what she did. On Facebook she has been putting little sayings ~ I've been going there for inspiration, I love reading them.
"If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's; we'd grab our own."
"Instead of thinking about what you're missing; try thinking about what you have that everyone else is missing."
She is my inspiration ~ I am her fan!
And she also reminded me about heart and soul love. The kind that no matter what....
